Lab Glassware

A beaker is a cylindrical lab glassware tool used in measuring and containing chemicals. It comes with a wide opening and it also has a beak to help in pouring the chemical into other test tube for further reactions.

Beakers are made of tempered glass which doesn’t contain arsenic or any other heavy metal. They are different types of beakers.

The various types of beakers available today are:

•     Griffin beaker:  Griffin beakers are composed of clear borosilicate glass. They are small, and are low form beakers who are known for their great features like they have better durability and are temperature and chemical resistant.
•     Berzelius Beaker: It is a tall beaker and is mostly used for titration. It is thin and the height is almost double of its diameter.
•     Crystallizer: It is also known as flat beaker. Like normal beakers, these don’t contain any measurements marked on them. These beakers are used to perform crystallization.
•     Philips beaker: It is quite similar to Griffin beaker but when you observe closely, you can see that the mouth of the beaker is narrow than the base. The walls of the beaker are also graduated.
